Our
Story
"Embrace the essence of sustainable beauty with an environmental consciousness. Kim's sustainable art jewellery conveys a powerful message, highlighting the significance of sustainable design that commences with the smallest of actions.”
Sustainability
"Sustainability is from Tiny"
Sustainable design is the direction towards a better life. Kim's sustainable design is based on a circular design approach, starting from sourcing raw materials with minimal environmental impact to minimizing waste in the product lifecycle. Additionally, it draws inspiration from the small things in daily life, transforming them into new values.
Circular design, in essence, is an approach that aims to minimize waste and environmental impact by emphasizing the continuous use, recycling, and repurposing of materials and products within a closed-loop system. It prioritizes sustainability, resource efficiency, and the reduction of waste throughout the lifecycle of products.
The value of circular design lies in its ability to reduce the strain on finite resources, decrease environmental pollution, and promote a more sustainable and responsible approach to production and consumption. By keeping materials and products in circulation for as long as possible, it contributes to a more circular and eco-friendly economy, aligning with the principles of environmental conservation and responsible stewardship of resources.
New Aesthetics with Nature.
"Nature is always precious"
The raw materials are from our living. Coffee grounds, scallop shell and mussel shell are reprocessed and can be beautiful new materials for a piece of jewellery. Kim’s jewellery show new aesthetic with the nature.
Mother of pearl from discarded abalone shell, Najeon in Korean.
This intricate and time-honored technique has been reinterpreted from a sustainable perspective. To carry forward the wisdom of using discarded seashells to create the most splendid and beautiful designs, Jihyo Kim has applied traditional mother-of-pearl materials and techniques.
3D Print Technology x Craftsmanship
"The blend of future technology and Korean traditional technique"
Combined 3D printing and traditional Korean craftsmanship to create jewellery, driven by Kim's sustainable perspective on these two technologies, uniting tradition and future technology for a better tomorrow.
The use of 3D printing technology in jewellery aims to introduce a different process from the traditional jewellery manufacturing. 3D printing technology is currently being developed and employed across various fields, including fashion, healthcare, and product design. Moreover, it allows the use of sustainable materials and is suitable for small-scale, multi-product production. The future prospects are even more promising.
The traditional Korean mother-of-pearl inlay technique has its origins dating back several centuries, with records indicating its use as early as the Goryeo Dynasty (918–1392) and the Joseon Dynasty (1392–1910) in Korea.
Korean mother-of-pearl inlay technique is often lauded for its exceptional precision and intricacy. One of its standout features is the use of iridescent mother-of-pearl shells, which are meticulously cut into tiny pieces and embedded to create stunning, multi-dimensional designs. This level of artistry and craftsmanship has been highly regarded, making Korean mother-of-pearl inlay technique renowned for its fine detail and meticulous execution. Additionally, the motifs and patterns often hold cultural and symbolic significance, adding depth and meaning to the artistry.
